Speaker—Doug Dukes
Museum Laureate
Refreshments/Door Prizes

In his 28-year career with the Austin, Texas, Police Department, Lieutenant Doug
Dukes has worked with the Texas Rangers on several occasions. He retired in
2014 and now devotes his attention to studying the Old
West, a lifelong passion, as well as writing Western
nonfiction. His interest and expertise naturally revolve
around frontier era law enforcement. His published articles
have appeared in historical publications such as:
Wild West History Association Journal, Wild West, True
West Magazines, and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and
Museum’s online chronicle, The Texas Ranger Dispatch.
Specially honored in 2014, Doug was selected as a Laureate
for the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco,
Texas. He serves as a consultant with other museum
laureates and staff members in their efforts to preserve and
promote Texas Ranger history. Though Doug is frequently
called upon to speak to interested civic groups, he has also appeared in several
television documentaries concerning old West lawmen, their life, and tools.
